Just in time for cooler weather, we finally discovered an extraordinary locally made apple butter to go on ham biscuits, atop cheese, toast, scones, pancakes and oatmeal.  It's not too sweet or too heavily spiced, as many of the apple butters we tasted.  Oak Spring Apple Butter is made from just the right blend of sweet and tart apple varieties with a balanced amount of apple cider vinegar tang and the comforting aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg.

Apple trees are a symbol of stability, peace, and diversity.  Oak Spring Apple Butter comes from Bunny Mellon's artfully cultivated orchard and includes a variety of Honeycrisp, Arkansas Black, Golden Russet, Winesap Staymen, York, Red and Golden Delicious apples.

Oak Spring  Apple Butter is produced by the Oak Spring Garden Foundation in Upperville, Virginia. Founded by Virginia horticulturalist, art collector and philanthropist, Bunny Mellon, the Foundation is dedicated to inspiring and facilitating scholarship and public dialogue on the history and future of plants, including the culture of gardens and landscapes and the importance of plants for human well-being.
