Membrillo or Quince paste is a classic complement to cheeses in Spain and Portugal.  We love it with Spanish Manchego and any cheddar for breakfast or snack. It is also a unique addition to cheeseboards. 


A quince is a tannic tree fruit (similar to a cross between and apple and pear) that must be cooked down with sugar and citrus peel to be preserved and enjoyed.
